Writing about girls

Ever since preschool started this fall, Maddox has been more and more interested in letters and words. Everyday he seems to have expanded his little brain with words and how to spell them. He never really wrote them though. Maybe sometimes, but not usually. Then today he brought me this piece of paper with a combination of letters on it. "What does this spell, mom?" "Nothing." He'd go back to the table and come back moments later. "Now what does it spell?" Well this went on a few times, until I actually saw what he was trying to spell. A girl's name! I was so impressed that he had spelled it all by himself, but I had to laugh that he chose a girl's name from his class instead of 'cat' or 'dog'.
