Watch out for those flying rocks!

What a beautiful day today. We headed outside after church today. Brent and Joel were still finishing up the basement, so we were trying to keep the kids busy until we had to hop in the car. Kate decided to treat the kids to a last minute picnic. We stopped by the stream to throw rocks on our walk.

these two were right at home...

Headed home. All three kids were zonked out 5 minutes down the road!

KC

We headed to Kansas City this weekend so Brent could help my bro do his electrical in the basement. It started snowing on our way. Took us by surprise!

Kate and I decided to take the kids to Kaleidoscope at Crown Plaza. We had a car-full!

The kids were in the crafting mood!

V-Day: Family-style

Valentine's day is just a fun day. I love making it a special day for the kids. I feel like there can be so much pressure around this holiday. My opinion, people just need to chill and make it fun.

They woke up to pancakes and eggs a few sweet treats.

Brent requested chocolate cake. And since he never requests dessert, I had to oblige!

Heart-shaped pizzas...of course.

candlelight dinner, or "ghost dinner" as Kade likes to call it.

our three little valentines.

Donuts With Dads

I've had a couple sick kids to take care of for the last several days. Thankfully they were all well enough to go have donuts with dad at school! (and I'd be lying if I weren't a little glad to have a day to finally get some stuff done!)

they are goofy.

And completely unrelated...Ava has been building a covered wagon for school. She has really gotten into it. She keeps coming up with things to add to it. It has been really fun to watch her mind in action!

KPTS Taping

Maddox's taping of his winning story was today. I had to get all the kids out of school because it was at 2pm. We headed straight there. He was pretty nervous. In fact, he's been nervous ever since he was awarded his prize. The idea of being on tv is exciting, but a little scary too!

His friend Ben was there waiting as well. He won 3rd place!

getting instructions for his practice run-through.

watching himself on tv!

He did such a great job. The sound-booth guy called him a "one-take wonder". He read through his story perfectly, the first time. He was so composed. He definitely does not get this from me!

we went out for ice cream to celebrate

and Barnes & Noble. He got to pick out a new book.

decisions, decisions...

I am so proud of this boy. He worked really hard on this story. He worked really hard at preparing for his performance. We cannot wait to see it. I will let you know when it airs!

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
