Kade and his eyes...

Sewing Lessons

After my first dress that I sewed for Ava, I got hooked. Since then I have made her two more dresses for fall. Both different in style and construction. I've learned that making a dress from material measurements is a piece of cake. But sewing from a pattern...well that's a whole new thing. For starters, it seems patterns are way off in sizes. My first attempt was a bit too big for Ava, but I also learned how to fix it and make it work. Another lesson learned: armholes SUCK!! Yup, they are no fun. But I suppose I may change my tune once I've had a little more practice on them.

So now that I have completed my 3rd dress for Ava, I can still say I love it. My next one is going to be a skirt. Should be easy, but I need to go clean my house before I tackle that one!

Cora's Playground Dedicated

Today was the dedication service for Cora's Playground. It was a hard day for Cora's mommy and daddy. As we see this playground each week, we will be forever reminded of the HUGE impact this sweet little girl's short life had on so many people around the world. If you think about it, please continue to keeps Cora's parents in your prayers. I know they still need and appreciate them. To read more about Cora and her parents you can visit their blog here.

They released 341 balloons-1 for each day Cora was on this earth.

I heart Sunflowers and my kids...

Okay, this may be a bit of photo overload, but it was too hard to choose, so you get them all. I said you may get bombarded with pictures of sunflowers in my last post about them, but the rain delayed that a bit. I guess I'm just making up for lost time. Enjoy!

A trip to the dentist

Ava had her first visit to the dentist. She had fun watching tv while her teeth got cleaned. TV!!! The things these kids get today. When I was a kid...

Fun at the fair

We woke up today and decided we'd go to the fair this evening. The kids had fun looking at all the animals and riding the kiddie swings and the pig races. Yes, the pig races where a sight to see. Interesting to say the least. On our way home, we stopped at Freddy's for supper and ice cream. They bathed in wet wipes before we got in the car and then headed home to bed.

For the LOVE of applesauce

Oh how I love the smell of apples cooking. So yummy.

I made applesauce today after Maddox's soccer game. I've been making applesauce pretty much every year since we've been married. If you know Brent, you know he puts applesauce on pizza and most casseroles. Strange, but he loves it. Needless to say, the kids all love applesauce too, so I have to stock up. Now, ever since I've been making it, I've always made it with Brent's mom. This year was different.

Now that I have a kiddo in school (especially during half days), I don't have much time in a day to go anywhere. I decided to split my applesauce making up into two days. Today I did three bushels by myself and Brent's mom will come on Monday to help me can the last two.

Mmm...my house smells good.

(I froze all of my applesauce today. The picture of the jar is actually from when we did it on Monday. Yes, I can take pictures of the future. Oooh...)

my kid's first soccer game ever.

I never thought that watching a bunch of 5-6 year olds play socer would be so much fun. Today was Maddox's first soccer game. It was so much fun. He played goalie in the first half and forward in the second. He stopped lots of shots and even scored his team's first goal!
