Warm, sunny weekend can only lead to cold, freezing rain...

????What???? Kansas weather never ceases to amaze me. Not necessarily in a good way. I am thankful for the few days of sunshine and warmth. We definitely took advantage of them. Good thing, because here comes the cold!

We went to the zoo for the first time this year on Saturday. It was fun to have a family day outside. Wonder when we'll make it there again...

Maddox's favorite animal is a meerkat. Yup, you heard me right, a meerkat. He is a funny kid.

This picture makes me laugh.

Nature Walk

While the kiddos dug for their treasure, I had fun taking pictures. I haven't had time to do that for a long time. Me-time while being with the kids = win-win!

Soaking up some D's

Praise the Lord for sunny, mild weather. It was beautiful out today. We decided to go on our "nature" walk (to those of you in PA and VA: don't laugh, it's the best we got!). The kids even amused me with a mini photo shoot. They are suck characters. I hope they always interact like they do. They feed off of each other like a bunch of goof balls. I love how close they are to each other. So sweet...most of the time...

They were digging for treasures at one point and called me over to show me the X they found (aka: the x Maddox made).

Snowy KC

We went to Kansas City this weekend to spend some time with my brother and his family and to get away for a night. There was still lots of snow on the ground, so we were sure to bring our snow stuff. Uncle Joel and Maddox built a snow fort. We don't usually get this much packing snow, so Maddox was in heaven.

During nap-time, Kate and I went to a fun antique mall. We don't get to do that much, so that was fun. Then I headed to meet up with Brent and his parents for a KSE meeting/dinner. (Thank you, Joel and Kate for watching our kids so we could sneak away!) We stayed at the Chateau Avalon. Brent and I have stayed there before. This time we stayed in the Mayan Rainforest. It was kind of a funny room. Brent seemed into it!

Super Sledding

We went to Brent's parent's house today to get some more use out of the snow that's been around this week. Grandpa had fun pulling the kids around on sleds. I'm pretty sure the kids had fun too!

A non-resolution, resolution

Last year I struggled to keep up with my blog, (among a few other things, but we won't get into those). I'm trying to do better this year. I was planning on getting caught up from last year, but I decided it was pointless and will just start this year with a fresh start.

I was inspired by my blog-friend jami. She is seriously funny. If you are looking for some fun craft ideas and a very good laugh, head on over to her blog. And she is definitely the only reason why I am doing this post, because I want her to pick me for a new blog book certificate! Oh, and so my mom won't hurt me...

Here's to a better blog year!

Snow-long awaited!

We have been waiting for snow for a long time. We went all the way to Colorado for Christmas and still didn't see any. Well, we finally got it, and what a perfect snow it is! I won't go on about how disappointed we were not to have a snow day, but that was a bummer. Kade got to go out in the snow at grandma's while I went to the doctor in the morning. I don't have any pics from that.

We headed out as soon as the big kids got home from school. They were pumped. Kade got a new sled for Christmas, so he was very anxious to use it. I told the kids to go curl up by the fire to warm up and the result was priceless. I love these kids!

Snow angels, a must.

Headed to the front "hill" to sled.
