Snow Puddles

After naps today the kids went outside to enjoy the snow before it all melts.

I'm not sure what Ava is doing in this picture. Bella seems intrigued.

Maddox decided the water needed to go.

Kade trying to figure out what Maddox is doing.

Kade telling Maddox how it should be done.

I guess the snow tuckered them out. This is what I found when I finished cleaning up after supper...Yes, they are pretending, but it was all their idea. Kids do the goofiest things sometimes.

A Spring Blizzard

As many of you know, we had a blizzard this weekend. It derailed plans to go to Kansas City to play with Uncle Joel and Aunt Kate. We were all bummed about that. But when the kids finally accepted that we weren't going any day this week, they got excited about the snow.

We spent the morning admiring the big flakes that were coming down. Later, we braved the non-cleared roads for an adventure to the Sweigart Grandparent's house.

We got out the sleds and 4-wheelers and went trapsing through the field. I think we all had a lot of fun. The afternoon brought sunshine, which made snow-playing that much more enjoyable.

This was Kade's expression the entire time on the 4-wheeler, but when asked if he wanted to get off, he always said no!

He cracked a tiny smile for this pic!

"Let's wrestle"

Kade was so funny tonight. He had an over abundance of energy tonight and all he wanted to do was wrestle with daddy. Here are a few pictures that I was surprisingly able to capture during it all.

long+scissors=short

Most of you may think I'm crazy for freaking out about this, but I am. It was way too hard to do this. I love Ava's hair...obviously more than she does. So, when she said she wanted short hair, mommy cringed, but gave in.
Before.

After

Super short, as Ava would say.

How Ava feels about her hair cut.

The length I cut off-about 6 inches!!

She did say she wanted it short like Maddox's..."NO WAY! You have way too pretty hair to be short like that!" I am very thankful she is so easy going and didn't push for this option!!!

A little porch-time

Now that it is getting nicer outside, I can finally spend some time on my porch swing again. I love my porch swing. Great place to snuggle up with a cup of coffee and enjoy the spring changes.

Well the kids like it too. When we first got the porch swing, we started reading books on the porch. I guess it stuck, because that was the first thing that came to Maddox's mind when I said I'd be on the porch. "Let's go get some books!"

It wasn't quite as warm as it looked outside today. Beautiful day, but the kids had to bundle a little.

I heart Craig

...well his list, anyway. This last weekend we went and picked up a very special piece of furniture for our house. It is an amazing hutch that I found on Craig's list. I've been looking for one for awhile, and last week I finally found it! Yeah, I'm pretty excited about it. I do have to repaint our table and chairs to match, but that's okay. They could all stand to get a nice fresh coat of paint anyway.

I also got this 5' x 8' rug in the mail this week for the boys' room. I got it for $20! I was pretty excited about that too. Not exactly what I was looking for, but it matches anyway and it was $20. Seriously, can you go wrong with that?

Spring Break Day 5

Our final day of Spring Break. We were going to go to the zoo again today, but decided it was a little too cold. So, we went over to a friends house for a little play date. I completely forgot my camera, so there aren't any pics. The kids had fun having other playmates and Kade got licked by Annie(the dog) a lot! Now they are quietly sleeping in their rooms. I think we'll paint this afternoon. Maybe this time, I'll remember my camera!

Spring Break Day 4

This morning we made our way over to the 'Fish' park. The sun came out while we were there, which helped warm us up. The kids hadn't been to the park since last Fall, so it was an exciting adventure for them. Kade tried to keep up with his big brother and sister. Most of the time he succeeded, but sometimes momma had to come rescue him from the tall ladders! That boy makes me nervous.

Maddox was the only one cooperating in this picture. No time to stop and pose for a pic, mom!

Spring Break Day 3

We are at home for day 3 of our Spring Break. We started our day out with some applesauce muffins. They were yummy. Maddox even said they were yummier than brownie cupcakes! Wow, and he doesn't even know they were good for him.

The kids love doing crafts. It doesn't matter how involved or lame they are. They just love doing them. So we spent the morning with stickers and finger paint.

They finished with a little 'Veggie' fun. Now I'm off to make some lunch. I think we'll go outside after their naps. Maybe strike up a good game of soccer. I wonder what tomorrow will bring...

Seeds

We decided to start our own seeds this year for the garden. Not sure how it will work out, but time will tell...

Spring Break Day 2

Surprise! We went to the zoo. It was an amazingly beautiful day to take a trip to the zoo. We met up with friends and even Aunt Jess came too. After, we stopped at 'Old McDonald's' for a bite to eat and a romp in the play area. It was a long day, but a good one.

This one doesn't really tell the story, so I will. We were at the hippos and they were at the surface of the water. Kade kept smashing his face against the rail shouting "pigs, pigs". He was much more interested in the zoo this year than last. It was fun to see him get excited about all of the animals. Ahh, just another sign of them all growing up.

Spring Break Day 1

Today is day 1 of Spring Break. I don't know what it is, but I feel like we need to make this week special. So, I'm trying to plan something for most every day. We'll see where we get by the end of the week.

It is an absolutely beautiful day. We spent all morning outside playing. The kids haven't had a lot of opportunity to do this lately (crazy Kansas weather) so they were having a blast. Maddox climbed his favorite tree about five times, Ava and Kade dug in the sandbox for a good hour, and all of them took turns riding all their bikes.

I'm really excited about what I have planned for tomorrow. Can't tell...it's a secret!
